emirates7 - Dubai International Chamber, one of three chambers under Dubai Chambers, has revealed its achievements for the first nine months of 2024, highlighting efforts to expand local companies into global markets and attract foreign direct investment (FDI) to the emirate.
The chamber has played a pivotal role in advancing the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) by attracting 157 companies to Dubai between Q1 and Q3 2024. This represents a 68.8% increase compared to the 93 companies attracted during the same period in 2023, further cementing Dubai’s position as a global investment hub.
The new companies included 39 multinational corporations (MNCs), a 117% year-over-year (YoY) growth from the 18 MNCs attracted in 2023. Additionally, 118 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) relocated to Dubai, reflecting a 57% increase from the 75 SMEs recorded during the same period last year.
Through its global network of offices and initiatives, the chamber supported 75 local companies in expanding to international markets in Q1-Q3 2024—a 241% YoY rise compared to the 22 companies assisted in the same period last year. This support helped businesses boost exports or establish a physical presence in their target markets.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of Dubai International Chamber, stated, "These exceptional results demonstrate the chamber's unwavering commitment to enhancing Dubai’s competitive edge in alignment with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33). We remain dedicated to positioning the emirate as a premier destination for FDI and a global hub of opportunity and growth."
He emphasized the role of the chamber’s international offices in showcasing Dubai’s advantages and facilitating local companies’ global expansion.
In Q1-Q3 2024, the chamber also organized two trade missions to Southeast Asia and West Africa under the ‘New Horizons’ initiative, enabling Dubai-based businesses to explore carefully selected international markets. These missions resulted in over 830 bilateral business meetings between Dubai companies and their counterparts, fostering investment opportunities and economic partnerships.
The Southeast Asia mission facilitated 200 meetings in Indonesia and 180 in Vietnam, while the West Africa mission included 150 meetings in Dakar, Senegal. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the Dakar Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture to enhance bilateral ties.
In Morocco, over 300 business meetings were held in Casablanca, and Dubai International Chamber signed four MoUs with key Moroccan entities, including the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development and several regional chambers of commerce, to strengthen economic collaboration.
