Dense fog in Abu Dhabi, NCM forecasts rain on Sunday

emirates7 - Motorists across the UAE are advised to drive with extra caution today due to dense fog in some regions. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued yellow and red alerts warning of reduced visibility, especially in parts of Abu Dhabi until 9:00 a.m.

Early on Sunday morning, fog was reported over areas such as Al Dhafra and Arjan in Abu Dhabi, according to the weather bureau.

Abu Dhabi Police took to X to remind drivers to be vigilant and adhere to variable speed limits displayed on electronic boards, which adjust based on road conditions to ensure safety during foggy periods.

The NCM also forecasts partly cloudy weather for the day, with clouds expected to build up in eastern regions. There is a possibility of convective cloud formation over the mountains by afternoon, potentially leading to rain. Temperatures are anticipated to rise gradually.

Coastal areas will see daytime highs between 34°C and 39°C, while inland areas could reach 37°C to 42°C. Mountainous regions will remain cooler, with temperatures ranging from 30°C to 35°C. Humidity in coastal zones may soar to between 70% and 90%.

Low clouds are expected in various parts of the country, possibly bringing light rain in some locations.

Winds are forecast to blow at speeds of 10 to 25 km/h, occasionally picking up to 35 km/h, which could stir up dust and sand, further reducing visibility. Motorists are urged to remain cautious under these conditions.

People with allergies should also take care when outdoors. Sea conditions in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea will remain calm.
