Dust storms, rough seas, and rising temperatures expected today

emirates7 - The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has released a weather advisory for Thursday, warning of dusty conditions, rough sea states, and the possibility of mist developing in the UAE.

The forecast indicates partly cloudy skies, accompanied by moderate to strong northwesterly winds that could stir up dust and sand, particularly in inland areas. Wind speeds are expected to range between 15 and 25 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 40 km/h in some locations. These conditions may lead to reduced visibility on roads and could disrupt outdoor plans.

On Wednesday, the highest temperature in the country reached a sweltering 41.2°C in Kalba, Sharjah, at 12:30 p.m. For today, temperatures in the interior regions are anticipated to climb to between 35°C and 39°C. Coastal areas and islands may see highs of 33°C to 37°C, while mountainous regions will be slightly cooler, with temperatures ranging from 31°C to 36°C.

Humidity is expected to rise overnight and into Friday morning, especially in some interior areas, increasing the likelihood of mist formation — prompting a cautionary note for early morning drivers.

Additionally, the NCM has issued a marine alert for rough conditions in the Oman Sea, where offshore wave heights may reach up to 6 feet. The Arabian Gulf is predicted to be very rough in the morning before calming to moderate conditions by the afternoon. This alert remains active until 12 noon, and beach visitors are advised to be cautious.

Authorities are urging residents to keep track of the latest weather updates and follow all safety guidance, particularly those planning sea travel or outdoor activities.
