emirates7 - Jean-Brice Dumont, Head of Air Power at Airbus Defence and Space, highlighted that Airbus has been a longstanding partner in supporting the UAE aviation sector, particularly in the localization of aircraft parts manufacturing. He pointed out that this collaboration has enabled UAE-based companies to develop manufacturing capabilities for parts used in Airbus aircraft.
Speaking to Emirates News Agency (WAM) following the signing of a new partnership agreement with EDGE Group to produce a specialized fuel tank for the C295 transport aircraft, Dumont shared that all Airbus aircraft currently produced are equipped with components made in the UAE.
Dumont also outlined Airbus’ future ambitions in the UAE, with plans to double its industrial activities over the next decade. He stressed that Airbus sees the UAE as a long-term strategic partner, emphasizing that the company's efforts to localize aircraft manufacturing extend beyond production to include building local expertise. This, he said, will help position the UAE as a key global player in the aviation industry.
Airbus aims to turn the UAE into a global hub for aircraft parts manufacturing, creating significant export opportunities for Emirati industries. Dumont underlined that this long-term vision is focused on strengthening partnerships with Emirati companies like EDGE Group, EPI, and Strata, and transferring advanced technical knowledge to local talent.
Reflecting on the partnership’s history, Dumont recalled that Airbus began collaborating with the UAE in 2010, when the first locally manufactured part was produced with Strata. He noted that the partnership has since evolved into a critical initiative for both meeting domestic needs and supporting export capabilities.
The production of the specialized fuel tank for the C295 aircraft, in cooperation with EPI, a subsidiary of EDGE Group, marks a significant milestone, as the UAE is now the exclusive global supplier of these parts.
Dumont described this partnership as a model for the aviation industry, helping the UAE achieve greater industrial independence and boosting national production capacity. He also emphasized Airbus' commitment to training Emirati talent, ensuring they are equipped with the skills needed to handle new designs and drive industrial innovation locally.
