Winners of Hamdan-ALECSO Award for Distinguished Educational Research announced

emirates7 - The Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, in collaboration with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO), has announced the winners of this year’s Hamdan-ALECSO Award for Distinguished Educational Research across the Arab world.

This year’s award attracted 154 research submissions from 11 countries. Saudi Arabia led with 103 entries, followed by Egypt with 17 and the UAE with 16. Jordan and Oman each submitted five, while Morocco and Qatar contributed two submissions each. Palestine, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Syria each submitted one entry.

Commenting on the announcement, Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, ALECSO’s Director-General, said, “ALECSO is privileged to announce the winners of the Hamdan-ALECSO Award, which underscores our strong collaboration with the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences. This award inspires researchers and institutions to channel their efforts into scientific innovation and research, addressing critical challenges in education and science.”

Dr. Khalifa Al-Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, remarked, “The Hamdan-ALECSO Award for Educational Research has established itself as a prominent platform in Arab educational research, promoting impactful studies in the field. This year’s increase in submissions highlights the shared commitment of ALECSO and the Hamdan Foundation to fostering the growth of educational research. These projects provide innovative solutions to contemporary challenges, contributing significantly to the advancement of educational quality in the region.”

The winning research projects addressed a variety of critical educational topics:

Dr. Zeinab Hassan Hamed Ali Al-Salami from Ain Shams University, Egypt, won for her study on "Developing a Model for the Use of Generative AI in Project-Based Learning in Teacher Preparation Programmes and Its Impact on Creativity and Passion."

Dr. Rahma bint Suleiman bin Hadi Thakir and Hassan bin Dhafer bin Hassan Al-Zahrani from Saudi Arabia were recognized for their research on "The Effect of AI-Enhanced Knowledge Journeys on Improving Academic Achievement and Attitudes Towards Mathematics among Secondary School Students."

Professor Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Faleh bin Ibrahim Al-Asail of King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia, was awarded for his study on "A Metaverse-Based Educational Program and Its Effectiveness in Enhancing Future Digital Skills and Promoting Positive Attitudes among University Students."

A research team from King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia, including Dr. Eman bint Ali bin Mohammed Al-Mohammadi, Malak bint Ali Fahmi Al-Zahrani, Bashayer bint Abdullah bin Saeed Al-Qarni, Dr. Eradah bint Omar Hamad, and Juwana bint Abdullah bin Suleiman Al-Juhani, was recognized for their study on "Graduate Students' Use of AI Applications in Scientific Research: Prevalence and Its Relationship to Perceived Impostor Syndrome."

The winners will be celebrated in an official ceremony during the 19th Conference of Arab Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, attended by senior officials, ministers, and leaders of major organizations. The event is scheduled for Thursday, November 28.
