emirates7 - In a remarkable achievement for the UAE, 17-year-old Fatima Abdulrahman Al Awadhi has become the youngest Emirati to scale Mount Elbrus in Russia—Europe’s highest peak, standing at 5,642 metres.
This accomplishment is a major milestone in her quest to complete the “Seven Summits” challenge, a renowned global mountaineering goal. Her journey began last year with a successful ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain.
Backed by UAE-based Finance House, which champions youth empowerment, Al Awadhi faced harsh weather conditions and rugged terrain to raise the UAE flag at the summit. Her climb carries a powerful message of hope and encouragement for Arab youth, especially young women.
She dedicated her feat to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak—affectionately known as the “Mother of the Nation”—in appreciation of their continued support for Emirati youth and women’s advancement.
“Reaching this peak was only possible because of the unwavering support of our wise leadership,” said Al Awadhi. “I dedicate this accomplishment to those who taught us that no dream is too distant.”
Al Awadhi represents the spirit and ambition of young Emiratis, combining her love of adventure with a deep commitment to social responsibility. Drawing on her background in leadership and volunteering, she plans to spearhead environmental and humanitarian projects to aid vulnerable communities and preserve nature.
She emphasized that her mission goes beyond personal goals, stating, “This is a message to Emirati and Arab youth—especially young women—that they can lead, explore, and lasting impact.”
Expressing heartfelt appreciation for her family, she added, “To my mother, Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, you are my foundation and my source of strength. And to my late father, Abdulrahman Al Awadhi, your wisdom taught me to reach for the skies with grounded determination.”
