emirates7 - A UAE delegation recently visited Lloyd’s of London, the world’s premier insurance marketplace, which provides specialized insurance services to businesses in over 200 countries and territories.
The visit aimed to strengthen the UAE’s global standing in maritime transport and insurance by fostering collaboration and exchanging expertise with one of the leading institutions in the global insurance sector.
Led by Eng. Hessa Al Malek, Advisor to the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure for Maritime Transport Affairs, the delegation included senior representatives from the port authorities of Fujairah, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah, along with maritime shipping and insurance specialists.
Discussions during the visit focused on boosting cooperation in maritime insurance and reinsurance, as well as developing innovative strategies for maritime risk management aligned with evolving global trade patterns. These efforts are expected to contribute to improving the resilience and sustainability of international supply chains.
The delegation received an in-depth overview of Lloyd’s operational frameworks, including insurance pricing strategies, claims handling processes, reinsurance structures, and regulatory compliance systems.
The visit also featured site tours and engagements with key experts and decision-makers within Lloyd’s market.
In her remarks, Al Malek highlighted that the UAE has a comprehensive and highly advanced maritime infrastructure in the region and is continuously refining its maritime regulations and policies to meet top international standards.
She stated, “Our visit to Lloyd’s of London marks a significant milestone in building strategic partnerships with leading global maritime insurance institutions. It allows us to leverage their expertise to further develop the UAE’s national maritime insurance sector and enhance the overall maritime business environment.”
