emirates7 - In recognition of Dubai's dedication to nurturing talent and innovation, Emirati student Ali Humaid Al Loughani received the ‘Leadership Medal’ and two gold medals at the 6th International Inventions and Trade Expo, held in London from 24th to 26th September.
Supported by Digital Dubai, Al Loughani was honored for his innovative projects using AI and IoT technologies to address challenges in marine safety and sustainability. Competing against 285 participants from across the globe, he distinguished himself as the youngest participant, underscoring the potential of Emirati talent in advancing eco-friendly solutions worldwide.
At the expo, Al Loughani showcased two major projects: the ‘Ship Accident Prevention Project’, which leverages artificial intelligence to enhance maritime safety, and the ‘Hydropower Project’, a hybrid energy system combining solar energy with hydrogen fuel cells, driven by IoT technology. His participation exemplifies Digital Dubai’s dedication to encouraging creativity within the community.
Along with the ‘Leadership Medal’, Al Loughani earned a gold medal for each of his projects and received recognition from the Inventors Association of Romania, Norton University of Cambodia, and the National University of Science and Technology in Bucharest.
Al Loughani’s AI-powered ship accident prevention system enhances maritime safety by monitoring and analyzing real-time data on sea conditions, ship speed, and weather to prevent accidents. This technology contributes to global sustainability efforts by reducing the environmental impact of incidents like oil spills and helps protect marine ecosystems.
His ‘Hydropower Project’ aims to develop a hybrid energy solution that integrates solar energy with hydrogen fuel cells, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. The system, which combines solar panels, hydrogen fuel cells, and an electrolysis generator to produce electricity, promotes the use of clean energy and supports climate action initiatives.
Al Loughani has previously achieved recognition, winning second place in the young inventors’ category at the 34th Technology, Innovation, and Invention Exhibition in Malaysia. Digital Dubai will now sponsor a scientific trip for him to Dallas, Texas, where he will participate in the Best Young Inventors Award and the Dr. Robot competition, providing him with mentorship, resources, and support to further develop his innovations and pursue patent registration.
