emirates7 - The Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, operating under the umbrella of Erth Zayed Philanthropies, is taking part in the 34th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), which runs from 26th April to 5th May 2025 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
At its dedicated pavilion, the Award’s General Secretariat is presenting its newest scientific publications in both Arabic and English, with a strong focus on date palm cultivation, agricultural production, and innovation in the sector.
This participation underscores the Award’s ongoing efforts to support the development of the date palm industry and promote agricultural innovation across national, regional, and international platforms.
Through this engagement, the Award reaffirms its dedication to spreading specialized knowledge and sharing the outcomes of successful research and field practices that contribute to advancing agriculture in the UAE and beyond. This commitment aligns with the UAE leadership’s vision of fostering innovation and sustainability.
As part of its 17th edition in 2025, and during the Award’s Winners Honouring ceremony, the General Secretariat announced the release of seven new publications, which will be officially introduced at the fair. These publications include:
1. “Date Palm Cultivation” (Arabic edition), developed in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
2. “Date Palm Cultivation” (English edition), also in partnership with FAO.
3. “Glossary of Biotechnology for Food and Agriculture”, another FAO collaboration.
4. “Date Palm Cultivation in Mexico” (Spanish), produced with Sonora State University and Dr. Ricardo Salomon Torres.
5. “Food Industries from Dates” (Arabic), in collaboration with Prof. Hassan Khaled Al Oqaidi.
6. “Organic Agriculture” (English), in collaboration with Prof. Magdy Mohamed Qenawy.
7. “Mejhoul Variety: The Jewel of Dates” (Indonesian), created with the Indonesian Kalimantan Date Palm Association. This book is now accessible in five languages: Arabic, English, French, Spanish, and Indonesian.
Each publication is the result of rigorous scientific work and collaboration with leading researchers, academics, and experts. Together, they aim to document best practices and promote sustainable agricultural methods among farmers and institutions.
Dr. Abdelouahhab Alboukhari Zaid, Secretary-General of the Award, highlighted the significance of participating in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, emphasizing that it serves as a valuable platform to engage with agricultural experts and showcase the Award’s intellectual and institutional contributions beyond its prizes and festivals.
