Emirates expands footprint into Eastern China

emirates7 - Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, will begin operating a new daily non-stop flight between Dubai and Hangzhou starting 30th July. This expansion marks Hangzhou as the airline’s fifth destination in mainland China, joining Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Shenzhen.

The new route will be served by a three-class Boeing 777-300ER, offering a total weekly seat capacity of 2,478. Flight EK310 will leave Dubai at 09:40 and arrive in Hangzhou at 22:00. The return flight, EK311, will depart Hangzhou at 00:10 and land in Dubai at 04:55.

These flights are scheduled to offer seamless connections to 38 cities in Europe, 22 in Africa, 11 in the Middle East, and major destinations in South America such as Brazil and Argentina. Key connecting cities include Istanbul, Barcelona, Cairo, and Johannesburg.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, stated that this new route to Hangzhou represents a key milestone in their East Asia strategy. He highlighted Hangzhou’s growing reputation as a hub for innovation, e-commerce, and advanced manufacturing, saying the route will boost both passenger and cargo operations, fostering stronger economic and technological ties between China and the Middle East.

Kazim also emphasized that adding a fifth gateway in China will improve connectivity for travellers and support businesses with more efficient access to East Asia. He described the move as part of Emirates’ broader global expansion strategy and thanked local authorities for their support in launching the route.

The Boeing 777-300ER serving this route will feature 8 First Class suites, 42 Business Class angle-flat seats, and 304 Economy Class seats. Passengers can enjoy Emirates’ award-winning “ice” entertainment system, which offers more than 6,500 channels in over 40 languages, including Chinese. The onboard dining menu will also feature Chinese cuisine and desserts.

On the cargo front, Emirates SkyCargo will use this new route to further strengthen trade links between China and the UAE, positioning Hangzhou as a key hub for cargo and cross-border e-commerce. The route will help meet increasing demand for reliable air freight, especially for high-value, time-sensitive goods such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, perishables, and online retail shipments, across regions including Africa, Latin America, and the Gulf.

With the launch of the Hangzhou service, Emirates will operate 49 flights a week to mainland China, including two daily services to both Beijing and Shanghai, and daily flights to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and now Hangzhou.
