emirates7 - Saudi Arabia is participating in the 34th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), held from April 26 to May 5, 2025, under the theme *“Knowledge Illuminates Our Community”*. The event is organized by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC).
This participation highlights the Kingdom’s dedication to enhancing its cultural and intellectual footprint regionally and globally. The Saudi pavilion serves as a showcase of the country’s ongoing transformation in the realms of literature, publishing, and translation.
Featuring a modern take on book production, the pavilion includes contributions from several key Saudi cultural and academic institutions such as the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education, King Fahd National Library, King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives, King Saud University, Umm Al-Qura University, King Faisal University, and the King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex.
A rich program of events is scheduled at the pavilion, including workshops, panel discussions, author meet-and-greets, and an extensive display of publications covering subjects like history, literature, science, and Islamic studies.
Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Bassam Al-Bassam, General Manager of Publishing at the Saudi Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, emphasized that this year's involvement underscores the deep-rooted cultural ties between Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
He noted the Kingdom’s efforts to bolster the publishing sector, promote literary engagement, and enhance the role of translation in expanding cultural exchange and facilitating global book distribution.
“We aimed to participate this year with a cohesive institutional identity by working closely with key government bodies connected to the publishing ecosystem,” Al-Bassam stated. “Our cultural program reflects the richness of Saudi heritage and civilization. The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, with its blend of tradition and openness, aligns with our mission to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s visibility on the global cultural map.”
