emirates7 - The Dubai Judicial Institute (DJI) has released its 2024 annual report, reaffirming its strong commitment to enhancing the capabilities of the judicial sector and empowering legal professionals. The report outlines a series of key accomplishments that highlight DJI’s central role in developing judicial and legal expertise, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The overarching goal of these initiatives is to improve the efficiency of the judicial system, support ongoing professional development, and adopt international best practices to ensure justice that is timely, effective, and accessible. The report describes 2024 as a transformative year for the Institute, marked by significant achievements and a renewed focus on quality and excellence. Among the most prominent milestones was the accreditation granted by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
In recognition of its leadership in delivering high-quality, innovative training through smart digital platforms tailored for the Arab legal community, DJI received the 2024 'Arab Judicial Training Excellence Shield' from the Arab Center for Legal and Judicial Research, affiliated with the League of Arab States.
A major development during the year was the launch of the Dubai Judicial Training Platform—an all-encompassing digital portal providing access to a variety of training programmes. The platform supports self-directed learning and enhances the flexibility and accessibility of legal training. In 2024 alone, the Institute conducted 131 training programmes, serving 7,337 participants with a combined total of 2,066 training hours, reaching 986 local and international entities from both public and private sectors.
In a pioneering move to advance practical training, DJI also introduced the ‘Virtual Crime Scene in the Metaverse’ initiative. This programme provides public prosecutors with hands-on experience in crime scene inspection and evidence handling within a realistic, interactive virtual setting, elevating their investigative skills.
Further reflecting its commitment to institutional excellence, the Institute earned two key ISO certifications: ISO 22301:2019 for Business Continuity Management Systems and ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management Systems. These certifications followed rigorous audits and validate DJI’s high operational standards and its efforts in preparing national talent, advancing research, and raising legal awareness.
The Institute also launched the second edition of the ‘Future Research’ competition, continuing its mission to inspire innovation in legal thought and to encourage researchers to explore new ideas in response to the evolving media and legal landscape.
In line with its strategic focus on collaboration, DJI expanded its partnerships with leading judicial, academic, and legal institutions both locally and globally. These partnerships aim to foster knowledge exchange, improve training standards, and support the Institute’s mission of leadership in legal and judicial education, benefiting the broader legal system at national and international levels.
The report concludes by reiterating DJI’s forward-looking vision to support the judicial system by nurturing talent and embedding innovation within its training framework. Through these efforts, the Institute continues to enhance Dubai’s global reputation as a hub of legislative and judicial excellence.
By continuously improving its programmes, broadening its network of strategic alliances, and staying ahead of emerging trends, the Dubai Judicial Institute is solidifying its role as a premier legal training centre in the Arab region and contributing to the UAE’s progress toward a world-class judicial system.
