Sultan bin Ahmed witnesses Judicial Council–UOS agreement

emirates7 - H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Judicial Council, and President of the University of Sharjah (UOS), attended the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday between the Judicial Council and the UOS.

The MoU aims to strengthen institutional collaboration and align the efforts of academic and judicial bodies within the Emirate of Sharjah. The agreement seeks to foster a strategic partnership focused on academic development, judicial training, knowledge exchange, and research initiatives to enhance educational and training programmes.

The signing took place at the UOS campus, with Sheikh Faisal bin Ali Al Mualla, Secretary-General of the Judicial Council, and Professor Dr. Issam Al-Din Ibrahim Ajami, Chancellor of UOS, formalising the partnership.

A key component of the agreement is the creation of a Centre for Legal and Judicial Sciences, which will lead scientific research and studies in the legal and judicial domains. The centre will grant access to scholarly resources and publications to support the Judicial Council’s objectives and may also establish a Professorial Chair in judicial and legal studies.

Additionally, the MoU outlines the introduction of joint academic programmes, including a Master’s in Judicial Studies and a Legal Expert programme within the College of Law. It also includes the development of hands-on training opportunities for students and specialised workshops and courses to build the capabilities of Judicial Council employees.

The collaboration further extends to launching a joint leadership development programme in the legal and judicial sectors, hosting academic conferences and forums, and facilitating experience-sharing and mutual institutional visits.

This agreement underscores the shared commitment of both institutions to advancing legal and judicial expertise in Sharjah by linking academic knowledge with practical experience. It represents a major step forward in the strategic cooperation between UOS and the Judicial Council and is expected to significantly enhance the emirate’s educational and training infrastructure. It also supports Sharjah’s broader vision of cultivating a justice system based on knowledge, professionalism, and transparency.
