Sharjah Archives creates records management system at SCHS

emirates7 - The Sharjah Archives has officially introduced a records management system at the main headquarters of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS).

This strategic initiative is designed to regulate and preserve government documents according to best practices and recognized standards, enhancing workflow efficiency and supporting long-term information sustainability.

The agreement was signed by Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Archives, and Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of SCHS, in the presence of Mona Abdul Karim Al Yafie, Director-General of SCHS, along with several officials and staff from both organisations.

The records management system is considered one of the most sophisticated tools for fostering a structured and productive work environment. It ensures documents are systematically classified, coded, stored, scheduled, and securely disposed of. The system also improves access to information and plays a key role in effective institutional decision-making.

Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Qasimi praised the collaborative efforts of both teams, describing the system’s implementation at SCHS as a vital step in promoting a culture of documentation and sound governance. He highlighted that the project reflects Sharjah’s broader commitment to enhancing public sector performance and safeguarding its humanitarian heritage.

He noted, “This initiative is particularly important for preserving records related to humanitarian services, which hold significant human value and encompass programmes, initiatives, and statistics focused on priority care groups. Proper documentation ensures the sustained development of these services on scientific and historical foundations, strengthens administrative organisation, and supports the city’s goal of delivering inclusive, sustainable services for people with disabilities.”

Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi reaffirmed the city’s dedication to fostering partnerships with various institutions and government bodies in pursuit of its strategic and operational goals. She said that implementing a dedicated records management system in collaboration with Sharjah Archives would greatly aid in preserving and archiving vital documents.

She added, “The city will provide full access to all relevant files and data to support this initiative, especially given its long-standing role as one of the region’s pioneering institutions serving individuals with disabilities—a legacy built on decades of service and achievement.”

Following the signing, the Sharjah Archives delegation toured SCHS departments and classrooms, where they learned more about the city’s programmes, services, operational procedures, and its comprehensive approach to supporting individuals with disabilities.

This partnership is part of the Sharjah Archives’ broader strategy to extend its records management system across government institutions in the emirate, aligning with Sharjah’s vision to preserve official records as part of the national heritage and ensure the continuity of institutional knowledge for future generations.
