emirates7 - Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, the inaugural Fujairah Children's Book Fair was officially opened by H.H. Sheikh Dr. Rashid bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority.
The event, held at the Al Bayt Mitwahid Hall in Fujairah, also saw the attendance of Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, President of the UAE Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation.
During the opening ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Rashid highlighted the vital role of children's literature in society and the importance of nurturing this genre. He pointed out how book fairs and cultural initiatives can enhance children's awareness and imagination.
He reiterated the Fujairah government's commitment to cultural development, in line with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, aimed at promoting knowledge and fostering a reading culture through sustainable projects.
H.H. Sheikh Dr. Rashid also toured the exhibition, visiting various publishing booths and interacting with cultural and artistic institutions participating in the fair.
At the ceremony, Nasser Al Yamahi, Executive Director of the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority, announced the launch of the Upcoming Author competition to encourage young writers.
The fair offers a range of interactive workshops in both Arabic and English designed to spark children's creativity and language skills. It also includes storytelling sessions and discussions with well-known children's authors.
Running until October 19, the fair features various activities aimed at inspiring and educating young minds at the Al Bayt Mitwahid Hall in Fujairah.
