emirates7 - The third edition of the Arabic Poetry Forum was inaugurated in Nigeria under the patronage of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Organized by the Sharjah Department of Culture in partnership with the Charitable Foundation for Teaching and Spreading Arabic Language in Nigeria, the forum featured 14 poets, both men and women.
Held at the National Development Centre in Abuja, as part of the Poetry Forums Initiative in Africa, the event was attended by Dr. Mohammed Awal Al-Sudani, Advisor to the Governor of Kaduna State, and Dr. Mohammed Al-Thani Ali, a representative from Nigeria’s Ministry of Education, alongside professors, students, and poetry enthusiasts.
In his speech, Ali expressed sincere appreciation to the Ruler of Sharjah for his support of poetry forums across Africa, highlighting their significance in promoting Arabic language and culture.
The forum featured a variety of poetry readings covering themes such as love, hope, and homeland. The event concluded with a ceremony recognizing the participants’ creativity, where they were presented with certificates of appreciation, encouraging them to continue their poetic pursuits.
