Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. She highlighted that Sharjah’s pivotal role in fostering creativity has the potential to inspire excellence in all literary domains.
She acknowledged that Sharjah’s cultural initiatives have significantly enriched the Arab world’s creative landscape through a series of continuous forums and festivals held in various Arab cities, marking a tangible addition to Sharjah’s cultural and humanitarian achievements.
These remarks were made during a meeting between Al Serarfi, Abdullah bin Mohammad Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture in Sharjah, and Mohammad Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department, at the ministry's headquarters in Tunis, coinciding with the launch of the 20th edition of the Sharjah Narrative Forum.
Al Serarfi emphasized the strong relationship between Tunisia and the UAE, noting close collaboration with Sharjah on cultural projects. She expressed Tunisia's pride in these extensive cultural partnerships, which have greatly impacted creativity both locally and throughout the Arab world.
She also noted that Tunisia is honored to host the 20th edition of the Sharjah Narrative Forum, a platform that travels across Arab countries to facilitate in-depth discussions on narrative trends and new developments. She underscored the significance of Sharjah’s cultural presence in Tunisia.
The minister fondly recalled a visit to Sharjah nearly two decades ago with a female musical group and praised the emirate's dedication to culture and the arts, emphasizing the special connection between music and poetry.
Abdullah Al Owais remarked that under Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi's guidance, Sharjah consistently pursues a sustainable cultural strategy through collaborative efforts with cultural institutions, offering a wide array of dynamic and creative programs.
He added, “We are delighted to kick off the Department of Culture’s annual program in Tunisia with the Sharjah Narrative Forum. Following the success of the House of Poetry in Kairouan, Tunisia has proven itself as a cultural powerhouse, driving new cultural advancements. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has been a vital partner in fostering this collaboration and supporting all initiatives from Sharjah.”
Both sides agreed to organize new cultural forums, including events focused on Arabic calligraphy and music, aimed at supporting creators and advancing development in these key artistic fields.
During the meeting, Al Owais presented Minister Al Serarfi with the September issue of “Shariqa Al Thaqafiyah” magazine, which features Tunisia on the cover with an image of Sousse, a coastal gem, along with an article on the Tunisian writer Ali Douaji, titled "Abu al Qissah al Tunisiya." He also provided an overview of the magazine’s various cultural topics.
