SMA announces registration for ‘SAWA: A Decade of Cross-Cultural Museum Learning’ Conference

emirates7 - The Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) has opened registration for the hybrid conference "SAWA: A Decade of Cross-Cultural Museum Learning" in 2024, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Arab-German SAWA Museum Studies Programme. This program aims to inspire innovative practices among emerging museum professionals.

The conference, scheduled for 4th-5th November 2024 at the Sharjah Archaeology Museum and available via live streaming, is organized in collaboration with the Crescent Group as the Strategic Partner and supported by the Consulate General of Germany. It promises a valuable platform for museum professionals, researchers, students, and enthusiasts to engage with insights from global leaders in the museum and cultural sectors, offering excellent opportunities for networking and professional development.

The event will cover a wide range of key topics, featuring panel discussions, keynote speeches, workshops, and presentations aimed at fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange. One of the main themes will focus on how international cooperation between museums and cultural organizations can raise industry standards. Additionally, past participants of the SAWA Museum Studies Programme will share how the program has shaped their careers and professional practices.

Other topics will include interpretation, curation, and strategies for curating exhibitions. The conference will also emphasize the importance of creating inclusive, engaging experiences for diverse audiences and explore the use of technologies, such as augmented reality, in museum environments.
