emirates7 - TRENDS Research and Advisory has announced the winners of the inaugural TRENDS Hub Scientific Research Award, designed to promote innovative and impactful scientific research on topics relevant to the Centre.
The award covers a range of subjects, reflecting TRENDS' diverse areas of focus.
The winners, selected in both Arabic and English categories, will be honored during the Centre's Bronze Jubilee celebration on September 9th. The award encompasses four distinct research fields: Political, Security, and Military Issues; Economic, Development, Climate, and Sustainability Issues; Cultural and Social Issues; and Technology and Artificial Intelligence.
An esteemed Advisory Committee, including Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Prof. Mark Tessler, Co-founder and Co-Principal Investigator of the Arab Barometer, reviewed 78 research papers submitted across these fields and selected three winners for each language category.
In the Arabic category, first place was awarded to Samah Al-Baradai from the University of Tunis, Tunisia, for her work on "Cultural and Social Issues." Yasser Qteishat from Jordan secured the second prize for his research on "Technology and Artificial Intelligence," while the third prize went to Nidaa El-Sayed from Cairo University, Egypt, for her paper on "Economic, Development, Climate, and Sustainability Issues."
In the English category, first prize was awarded to Maryam Al-Saeedi from Zayed University for her research on "Technology and Artificial Intelligence." The second prize went to Mohammed Al-Azaizeh, also from Zayed University, for his work on "Cultural and Social Issues," while Asma Al-Afifi took third place for her research on the same topic.
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research and Advisory, noted that the first edition of the TRENDS Hub Award successfully attracted exceptional researchers from various countries, who submitted high-quality research papers across the four categories.
He highlighted that this award marks a significant step in promoting research culture and supporting academic communities, encouraging healthy competition among researchers who have demonstrated their ability for sustainable scientific and intellectual creativity.
The top three winners in each category will receive a Certificate of Appreciation and a Financial Incentive Award (first place: $5,000, second place: $3,000, third place: $2,000). Their winning papers will also be published on TRENDS' digital and social media platforms.
Additionally, the winning researchers will be eligible for a research fellowship at TRENDS and will have priority access to training courses offered by the Centre in their respective areas of study.
