European opera lovers enthused by top soprano in title role in classic opera

emirates7 - European opera lovers have got a golden opportunity to watch a globally acclaimed soprano in the title role in a classic opera.

Bulgarian soprano Krassimira Stoyanova is in the title role in the new production of Verdi’s Aida performed at the Semperoper Dresden, a famous opera house in Germany, Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) reported on Tuesday.

Aida is a four-act opera crafted by the legendary Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi. Set in ancient Egypt, the opera has been performed over a thousand times since it was created in 1886.

The new production, directed by Katharina Thalbach, premiered on 5th March. The next performances this month are scheduled for 17th March and 20th March. Christian Thielemann is the conductor, and Ezio Toffolutti is the set designer. Among the performers are Francesco Meli as Radames and Georg Zeppenfeld as Ramfis.

Krassimira Stoyanova is one of the leading sopranos of our time, highly acclaimed by press and public alike. She was born in Bulgaria where she studied violin at the Coservatory and singing and violin at the Plovdiv Music Academy. She made her professional debut in 1995 at the Sofia National Opera House, according to her official biography.

In her international career, Stoyanova has performed at world’s leading opera houses. She is also one of the most sought-after singers on the concert stage.

In 2009, Stoyanova was awarded the prestigious title Kammersängerin der Wiener Staatsoper.
