SICALE discusses 23 academic studies from 14 countries

emirates7 - At the end of the Second Sharjah International Conference on Arabic Language Studies in Europe (SICALE), European academics expressed that interest in the Arabic language is on the rise due to globalization and cultural exchange. They noted that teaching Arabic literature to non-Arabic speakers enriches European culture and heritage.

SICALE, organized by the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, took place at the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre from September 21 to 22. It featured a distinguished group of researchers and academics from various European universities and research institutions, presenting 23 academic studies across seven themes. These themes included "Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers: Experiences and Prospects," "Arab Tales in the West: One Thousand and One Nights, Kalila Wa-Dimna, Juha, and others," "Translation and Cultural Communication," "Translating the Meanings of the Holy Quran into European Languages: Reality and Prospects," "The Image of the Arab in Travel Literature and Books of European Geographers," "The Arabic Language and Contemporary Technology," and "Arabic Manuscripts in Europe."

The diverse lineup of speakers and authors showcased Sharjah's commitment to unifying global efforts to promote the Arabic language and address the challenges associated with its teaching and dissemination. Participating countries included Russia, Italy, France, Germany, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Romania, Serbia, Denmark, Spain, Poland, Norway, Croatia, and Greece.
