17.6% increase in new business licences in H1: Ras Al Khaimah DED

emirates7 - A recent report from the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Ras Al Khaimah shows a 17.6% increase in new business licences issued during the first half of this year, reaching 1,219 compared to 1,037 in the same period last year.

Industrial licences experienced the most significant growth, rising by about 111%. They were followed by professional licences, which grew by 20%, and commercial licences, which saw a 12.6% increase.

In terms of sectors, the wholesale and retail trade led with 44.4% of all new licences issued. The construction sector followed with 18%, while the accommodation and food services sector came third at 13.2%. The manufacturing sector accounted for 11.1%, and other service-related activities made up 8.6%.

The report also indicated a 7.5% rise in total registered capital during the first half of the year. Notably, the capital for industrial licences surged by 7.6 times compared to the same period in 2024, and capital for professional licences rose by 24.7%.

Geographically, Al Dhait recorded the highest number of new licences, contributing 8.7% of the total, followed by Al Nakheel at 8.4%, and both Al Qusaidat and Julphar at 7.7%.

When measuring new licences as a proportion of active licences in each area, Khalifa bin Zayed City led with 18.9%, followed by Dahan at 13.4%, and Al Ghail at 9.1%.

As for attracting new investments, Al Jazirah Al Hamra led all areas, accounting for nearly one-third of the total registered capital of new licences. Al Dhait and Al Ghail followed with 13% and 8.5%, respectively.

Amina Qahtan, Director of the Commercial Affairs Department at the DED, stated that these positive indicators reflect Ras Al Khaimah’s vibrant and steadily expanding economy. She credited the growth to the leadership’s forward-thinking policies and the implementation of various business-friendly incentives designed to attract investors and streamline business operations.
