UAE committed to building sustainable energy future: Amna Al Dahak

emirates7 - Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, reaffirmed the nation's dedication to a sustainable energy future and its leadership in advancing renewable energy solutions.

Her statement coincided with the International Day of Clean Energy, observed annually on 26th January. Dr. Al Dahak remarked, "This day serves as a crucial moment to reflect on the vital role clean energy plays in achieving climate objectives through a fair and sustainable energy transition, ensuring energy security and a cleaner future for all."

Highlighting the UAE's achievements, she noted that the country is home to three of the world's largest solar power plants, as well as a recently launched gigawatt-scale solar and battery storage project capable of delivering round-the-clock energy.

These groundbreaking initiatives, alongside the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant—which supplies nearly 25% of the UAE's electricity needs—underscore the nation’s commitment to achieving its Net Zero by 2050 Strategy.

Dr. Al Dahak emphasized the importance of global cooperation in the shift to clean energy. "We understand that a successful transition requires international collaboration. The UAE is actively forging global partnerships to exchange knowledge, foster innovation, and assist developing countries in their journey toward sustainable energy solutions," she added.
