emirates7 - Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced the nol Card as an additional payment method for electric scooter users, expanding payment options across the emirate for scooters operated by RTA-accredited providers.
Salahuddin AlMarzooqi, Director of Automated Collection Systems at RTA’s Corporate Technology Support Sector, explained that this initiative supports RTA's goal of enhancing first and last-mile connectivity by integrating public transportation with flexible mobility solutions. By adding the nol Card as a payment option, RTA aims to offer users a seamless and convenient experience.
The nol Card is now available as a payment option on all authorized electric scooter operator apps. Users can link their nol Card through NFC technology on their smartphones and purchase packages on an hourly, daily, or monthly basis. To use this service, users simply need to download the relevant app.
In addition to being accepted for public transportation (metro, buses, trams, and marine transport), the nol Card is also valid for private transport services like taxis, the Nakheel Monorail, and electric scooters.
RTA is also upgrading its nol system from a traditional Card-Based Ticketing system to a more advanced Account-Based System. This new system incorporates global best practices to ensure top-tier electronic and financial security. The upgrade will enhance payment system technologies, improve operational efficiency, and leverage data for customized services. The new system will also offer features like trip planning, booking, and pre-payment through smart channels, further advancing Dubai’s smart mobility ecosystem.
