emirates7 - A delegation from the United Arab Emirates, led by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, took part in the 7th BRICS Youth Energy Summit, which was hosted in Brazil. The summit brought together youth delegations made up of top-tier experts and professionals from BRICS member states and invited nations.
The UAE delegation included representatives from several prominent national energy institutions, such as the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the Federal Youth Authority, Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), and the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA).
This engagement reflects the UAE’s continued commitment to advancing global cooperation, empowering youth, and reinforcing its leadership role in the global energy transition. It is also aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 7, which promotes access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.
During the summit, the UAE delegation delivered a keynote speech in a panel titled “Technological Advancements for Low-Carbon Power Systems.” They presented the country's achievements in developing intelligent and resilient energy networks powered by low-carbon sources like clean hydrogen, solar power, and sustainable aviation fuel.
The delegation also highlighted groundbreaking national strategies such as the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and the National Hydrogen Strategy 2050. They reiterated the country’s dedication to advancing the outcomes of the UAE Consensus, introduced during its COP28 presidency, which advocates for a fair and gradual shift away from fossil fuels, expansion of renewable energy technologies, and attainment of climate neutrality by 2050.
Emphasis was placed on the critical role of technology, innovation, capacity building, and youth empowerment in driving the global shift toward low-emission energy systems.
Furthermore, the delegation showcased Emirati success stories in clean energy and research and development, offering them as inspirational examples for BRICS nations and beyond.
As the summit concluded, the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing collaboration with international partners in the BRICS bloc to build a more sustainable, inclusive, and secure energy future for upcoming generations.
