emirates7 - As part of the "Year of the Community" initiatives and its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life for senior citizens and residents, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) has launched a comprehensive package of innovative programs under the banner "We Are Your Support."
These initiatives are designed to provide integrated, high-quality services that promote the dignity, stability, and well-being of this vital segment of society.
Key features include the introduction of the National Housing Specifications Guide for Senior Citizens, complimentary housing design options via the “Darak” platform, and free voluntary engineering consultations in fields such as energy, electricity, design, and construction, offered through the “Aounkom” initiative.
The Ministry has also designated a team of expert employees to serve as dedicated advisors for senior citizens and residents across service centres in Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah. These advisors are known for their strong communication abilities, fluency in local dialects, and empathetic approach to handling sensitive and exceptional cases.
Recognising the diverse needs of elderly men and women, the initiative provides tailored and flexible solutions. For women, the “Leen Babek” service enables them to complete transactions from home, ensuring privacy and convenience. For men, accessibility has been enhanced through reserved parking, smart service kiosks, and personalised follow-up support until the service is fully delivered.
In addition, the “Golden Counter” has been introduced — a priority service desk dedicated exclusively to senior citizens and residents at service centres, ensuring that their needs are addressed swiftly and efficiently. The initiative also includes educational workshops to help seniors become more familiar with digital services, offering direct assistance whenever necessary.
Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at MoEI, highlighted that the initiative embodies the UAE leadership’s vision to improve life for all, particularly older adults and long-time residents.
He stated, “Serving the elderly is more than a responsibility — it’s an honour and an expression of gratitude to the generation that laid the foundation of our nation. The ‘We Are Your Support’ initiative sets a benchmark for care and empowerment, offering a top-tier service experience that mirrors the respect they deserve and aligns with the UAE Government’s values of proactive, people-focused service.”
He added, “At MoEI, we remain committed to advancing our services to the highest standards. Our aim is to eliminate bureaucracy and deliver smart, seamless, and personalised services that genuinely enhance lives — especially for our senior citizens and residents.”
