Ras Al Khaimah Ruler holds talks over Guangdong’s sustainable development journey

Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, engaged in fruitful discussions with the Guangdong Development and Reform Commission to explore the province’s comprehensive approach to sustainable development and its potential lessons for Ras Al Khaimah.

Accompanied by a delegation of senior advisors and strategists from Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Saud exchanged ideas and gained insights into Guangdong’s urban planning, industrialisation strategies, foreign investment successes, and its evolution toward smart city development.

Reflecting on the discussions, Sheikh Saud remarked, “Guangdong Province has demonstrated extraordinary development and progress in recent decades. For Ras Al Khaimah, which is pursuing a similar trajectory, learning from global partners is invaluable. By adopting best practices from our international friends, we can a dynamic, efficient, and sustainable future for Ras Al Khaimah, benefiting our people and reinforcing our commitment to innovation and advancement.”

Guangdong, home to over 126 million residents, boasts the largest economy among China’s provinces, with a GDP of $1.9 trillion (AED 6.98 trillion) in 2023. Renowned as a manufacturing powerhouse, its key industries include electronics, automotive, textiles, pharmaceuticals, high-tech sectors, finance, and real estate.
