FNC Speaker, President of Italy's Chamber of Deputies highlight depth of bilateral ties

emirates7 - Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), engaged in discussions with Lorenzo Fontana, President of Italy's Chamber of Deputies, during an official visit to Italy. The meeting was held at the Chamber’s headquarters.

Both leaders emphasized the strong ties between the UAE and Italy, which have been built on mutual respect and shared national interests since 1972. They highlighted the alignment of their views on current regional and global matters, as well as their commitment to enhancing international security and stability.

At the beginning of the session, Lorenzo Fontana welcomed Saqr Ghobash and his delegation, noting the significance of the visit. He expressed hope that it would lead to greater cooperation and coordination across various sectors, benefiting both nations and their citizens.

Ghobash highlighted the need to strengthen bilateral relations at both official and grassroots levels, especially in light of global developments. He also stressed the importance of advancing parliamentary diplomacy between the two legislative bodies.

He noted that the UAE and Italy are aligned on several political and parliamentary initiatives. Economically, he pointed out that the UAE is Italy's top trading partner in the Middle East and North Africa region.

Additionally, Ghobash praised the recent decision by the Italian government to allow UAE citizens to use electronic gates for entry and exit procedures at all Italian airports, reflecting the depth of the bilateral relationship.
