‘Make-A-Wish’ celebrates World Mental Health Day

emirates7 - The "Make-A-Wish" Foundation highlighted that World Mental Health Day, observed annually on 10th October by the World Health Organisation, provides a valuable opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of addressing mental health in sick children, alongside their physical treatment.

Hani Al-Zubaidi, CEO of the UAE-based "Make-A-Wish" Foundation, emphasized the significance of the day for the foundation, noting the strong connection between psychological well-being and the recovery process for children battling serious illnesses. He explained that granting wishes is not just about creating joyful moments but also about providing hope, strength, and the emotional resilience crucial for both mental and physical recovery.

He further added that for many children facing life-threatening conditions, the uncertainty surrounding their future can be a heavy psychological burden. Tailoring each wish to suit the child’s dreams gives them a sense of hope, helping them cope with anxiety, fear, and stress. As a result, the foundation recognizes that supporting children's mental health is as essential as addressing their physical health.

Al-Zubaidi concluded by reaffirming the foundation's dedication to granting wishes that bring joy, emotional healing, and strength to children. He stressed that through collaborative efforts with hospitals, institutions, and companies, they can ensure these children's mental well-being and help them find the courage to continue fighting and pursuing their dreams.
