100+ global experts to lead 60 sessions as Data & Community Development Forum kicks off tomorrow

emirates7 - Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the first-ever 'Regional Data and Community Development Forum' is set to begin on Wednesday. This event will bring together over 100 global experts and feature more than 60 activities, including keynote addresses, panel discussions, and specialized workshops. The forum aims to examine the latest developments in data and its crucial role in shaping communities while advancing sustainable development goals.

Organised by Sharjah's Department of Statistics and Community Development (DSCD) under the theme 'Driving Change,' the two-day forum will be held at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre. It will focus on six major sectors where data is vital for development: healthcare, education, infrastructure, sustainability, technology and AI, and business. Discussions will delve into how data can improve healthcare systems, forecast labor market trends, design sustainable smart cities, manage resources more efficiently, and enhance community well-being. Moreover, the forum will highlight the significance of data in monitoring climate change, crafting sustainable environmental strategies, and providing essential insights for entrepreneurs to boost start-up competitiveness.

The event will feature four specialized halls dedicated to panel discussions and keynote speeches, facilitating in-depth conversations among experts on the latest data trends and challenges in these sectors.

Prominent figures attending the forum include former presidents, ministers, and international thought leaders, such as Kersti Kaljulaid, former President of Estonia; Dr. Hala El Said, Economic Advisor to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi; Andrej Kiska, former President of Slovakia; Dr. Magued Osman, CEO of Baseera and former Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology; and Anna König Jerlmyr, former Mayor of Stockholm.

In addition, notable speakers like Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Government Relations in Sharjah; Professor Dr. Ger Graus, Global Education Adviser; Chris Barton, Founder of Shazam; and Dr. Khaled Ghattas will share their perspectives through motivational talks on harnessing data for success in personal, family, and professional spheres.

The forum will also host over 24 workshops across six halls, organized in partnership with international and regional institutions, including Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, the University of Birmingham, the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics, the Rochester Institute of Technology in Dubai, and the American University of Sharjah. These workshops will equip participants with advanced skills and knowledge in the field of data.

To foster international collaboration in the data sector, the forum has established strategic partnerships with esteemed global organizations such as the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the GCC Statistical Centre, the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre, and Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi (SCAD), reinforcing its importance at both regional and global levels.
