emirates7 - The UAE Government Media Office has unveiled the Social Media Guide for Government Entities, an initiative aimed at keeping pace with the rapid evolution of social media and enhancing communication between federal government entities and the public.
The announcement was made by Saeed Mohammad Al Eter, Assistant Minister for Strategic Projects at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and Chair of the UAE Government Media Office, during the Federal Government Communication Network meeting held at Emirates Towers in Dubai. The meeting gathered communication directors, advisors, and officials from various federal entities.
Developed in collaboration with the New Media Academy, the Social Media Guide provides a comprehensive framework to standardize social media use across government bodies. It aims to ensure consistency and clarity in messaging, strengthen the digital presence of government entities, and encourage greater interaction with the public. The guide includes best practices for crafting effective digital communication strategies, focusing on content creation, cohesive visual identity, and consistent audience engagement.
Alia Al Hammadi, Vice Chairperson of the UAE Government Media Office and CEO of the New Media Academy, emphasized the guide's role in enhancing government content creation and delivery. “The Guide introduces innovative methods to ensure clarity and impact in governmental content,” she stated. “It outlines tools for producing specialized media content, developing storytelling techniques, managing crises, and leveraging various trends and formats to enhance government messaging.”
The meeting also featured a specialized workshop organized jointly by the UAE Government Media Office and the New Media Academy, offering expert insights on best practices for government social media presence.
Khadija Hussain, Executive Director of Government Communication at the UAE Government Media Office, underscored the urgency of effective social media communication in today's rapidly evolving technological landscape. “Given the fast-paced technological advancements, the Guide represents a significant step toward unifying communication practices, ensuring a consistent and clear message that aligns with the UAE’s vision and strengthens public engagement,” she remarked. “A key objective is to enhance the government's identity on social media platforms. In the digital age, successful government communication relies on transparent outreach, and this Guide will help direct entities toward best practices in digital content creation, ensuring that messages resonate with audience expectations and interests.”
The meeting also showcased the outcomes of the Specialized Content Creator Program, designed to enhance the skills of government communication teams in producing specialized digital content. Graduates of this program were selected to participate in the Talent Development and Management Program, which equips them with skills to high-quality digital content that accurately reflects the UAE’s positive image.
This initiative provides a robust framework for training participants in innovative content strategies, including visual identity development, writing techniques, filming, and digital publishing. It also offers a unique opportunity for participants to enhance their skills in managing social media platforms, contributing to a more dynamic and impactful digital presence for the government.
By nurturing young talent in government communication, this initiative paves the way for a new generation of content creators who will strengthen the UAE government’s digital presence and its goal of effectively engaging diverse audiences.
