Abu Dhabi Crown Prince visits Mahatma Gandhi's shrine

emirates7 - H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, visited the Raj Ghat memorial in New Delhi, India, where he paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. During his visit, Sheikh Khaled observed a moment of silence and placed a wreath at Gandhi's shrine, honouring his pivotal role in India's independence and development.

He also took the opportunity to tend to the trees planted at the memorial by the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in 1975, and by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during his 2016 visit to India. Continuing this tradition, Sheikh Khaled planted a tree of friendship to further strengthen the UAE-India relationship.

Sheikh Khaled expressed pride in the enduring friendship between the UAE and India, emphasizing that collaborative efforts will continue to enhance bilateral ties and benefit both nations.

At the end of his visit, Sheikh Khaled wrote in the guestbook, acknowledging Gandhi's lasting influence and comparing his values of love and peace to those of Sheikh Zayed, whose legacy of generosity and humanitarianism has also made a global impact.
