Today was the sod-turning ceremony of the new high-tech building of the Clean & Circle Centre of Competence in Bulgaria, according to the Bulgarian News Agency.
The construction of the specialised building is part of a project for clean technologies for sustainable environment – waters, waste, energy for circular economy, funded by the Operational Programme "Science and Education for Smart Growth" and co-financed by the EU through the European structural and investment funds .
The total value of the project is 23,667,925 leva. The building will be constructed on a site owned by Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, which is a leading partner in the project, and will be located near its Faculty of Physics.
The rector of Sofia University, Professor Anastas Gerdjikov, noted that the construction of this building will an entire campus associated with serious scientific work. According to him, this project has the potential to become an example of the benefits of combining scientific work with the needs of businesses and society.
The aim of the project is to build an efficient infrastructure and research capacity to develop innovation in the circular economy with a focus on water, energy and waste management. The deadline for implementation is November 30, 2023.
