EDGE demonstrates advanced autonomous aerial capabilities in Brazil

emirates7 - In April, EDGE, a leading global advanced technology and defense group, held a capability demonstration of the ANAVIA HT-100 unmanned helicopter at the Army Activities Centre in Restinga da Marambaia, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This event highlighted the HT-100's ability to swiftly and reliably deliver tactical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) data in real-time.

Developed by ANAVIA, a Swiss-based company specializing in unmanned aerial systems, the HT-100 showcases European engineering excellence and innovation in Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) technology. ANAVIA's expertise was crucial to the helicopter's performance and reliability during the live demo.

The demonstration was attended by various officials, including representatives from the Brazilian Armed Forces, the Military Police of Rio de Janeiro, the Federal Police, and other public security agencies. The HT-100 displayed impressive capabilities, including a 15-minute readiness time from system activation to take-off, as well as executing complex flight maneuvers such as hovering, low-speed and low-altitude flights, figure-eight turns, and circular orbits. Additionally, the HT-100 demonstrated its ability to operate both within and beyond visual line-of-sight (VLOS/BVLOS) while providing real-time situational awareness through mapping.

Tiago Silva, CEO of EDGE’s Latin America office, emphasized the HT-100’s potential to meet defense and public security needs in Latin America, tailoring its capabilities to address the region’s specific challenges. The demonstration highlighted its strategic value in various operational contexts, attracting potential partners who could benefit from deploying the HT-100 in mission-critical scenarios.

The HT-100 is a versatile unmanned helicopter designed for all-terrain, day/night, and adverse-weather operations. It can serve as a rapid-deployment alternative to manned helicopters for intelligence and data-gathering missions, with a payload capacity of up to 60 kg. Its industrial-grade turbine and interconnected rotor system ensure up to 6 hours of flight time, high energy efficiency, and minimal vibration for reliable performance.

Jon Andri Jörg, CEO of ANAVIA, noted that the HT-100 sets a new benchmark in unmanned rotary aviation. He emphasized ANAVIA's mission to provide armed forces and security agencies with a dependable and high-performance platform for demanding environments, underscoring the success of the demonstration as a testament to European innovation's global reach, facilitated by EDGE Group’s capabilities.
