emirates7 - The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) and the UAE Research Programme for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP) have finalized preparations for the 7th International Rain Enhancement Forum (IREF), scheduled for Tuesday, 28th January.
The three-day event will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, with the participation of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs.
Alya Al Mazrouei, Director of UAEREP and the Research and Weather Enhancement Department at NCM, stated that the forum underscores the UAE's dedication to innovation and global cooperation in tackling water-related challenges. It also highlights the country’s growing prominence as a hub for weather and rain enhancement science.
The event will gather distinguished speakers, experts, policymakers, and researchers from around the globe to deliberate on issues related to water security and weather modification.
Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of UAEREP, the forum will honor individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to the programme's achievements. It will also inaugurate the sixth award cycle of UAEREP.
Structured around five strategic themes—Collaboration, Innovation, Capacity Building, Artificial Intelligence, and Applied Research—the forum will feature a broad array of sessions. Topics will include regional and global insights on water security, AI-driven weather modification, data science and physics-based models for climate and weather research, unmanned aerial systems (UAS) technologies, advanced cloud-seeding materials, localized climate interventions, and novel approaches in rain enhancement research.
Prominent speakers from nations such as the US, UK, India, China, and Russia will attend, alongside representatives from leading organizations including the World Meteorological Organization, the World Water Council, and Khalifa University.
The forum aims to solidify the UAE's status as a global leader in cutting-edge rain enhancement research and innovation.
