emirates7 - The Liwa International Festival 2025, Abu Dhabi’s premier winter destination, is set to launch tomorrow with its flagship event, the Free Style Car Show.
Held at the iconic Moreeb Dune arena under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, the festival is organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi in partnership with the Liwa Sports Club. Spanning 23 days, it promises a vibrant mix of entertainment, cultural activities, and thrilling challenges.
The Free Style Car Show, taking place over two days from 6:00 pm to midnight starting Friday, will feature over 130 cars across various categories. Participants will display their driving prowess through signature maneuvers like “Al-Okda,” “Al-Khaba,” and precision drifts.
Abdullah Butti Al Qubaisi, Chairman of the Liwa Sports Club, described the Free Style Show as an ideal opening for the festival, showcasing Moreeb Dune as a unique destination that draws thousands of visitors and participants from around the globe annually.
“Our aim with this festival is to position Al Dhafra as a comprehensive destination for tourism and sports, combining adventure activities with rich cultural experiences. The highlight of the festival, the Moreeb Dune Climb, serves as its grand finale,” Al Qubaisi noted.
He also expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, emphasizing that the UAE leadership’s commitment has elevated the festival to a prominent platform that enhances the nation’s reputation as a global hub for cultural and tourism events.
Running from December 13, 2024, to January 4, 2025, the festival will feature an array of sports competitions, including the iconic Moreeb Dune Climb, car and bike races, as well as traditional activities such as camel racing and falconry.
