SEDD launches ‘Instant Licence’ service

emirates7 - The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) has launched the “Instant Licence” service to boost investment and attract entrepreneurs to the emirate.

Approved by the Sharjah Executive Council, the initiative aims to allow investors and business owners to obtain a commercial licence immediately, without needing to submit a Memorandum of Association or a signed lease contract during the first year. This approach enables businesses to start operating right away, streamlining procedures, shortening the customer journey, and contributing to the emirate’s economic growth.

The “Instant Licence” can be issued within a single working day and applies to all office-based activities that do not require external approvals. Each licence permits up to three employees and bypasses the usual steps and documentation required for standard licences.

This service is designed to help investors operate in their first year and fulfill all standard licensing conditions in the second. It specifically targets new investors and existing businesses looking to expand into specific sectors, thereby enhancing Sharjah’s economic competitiveness.

With this service, SEDD aims to empower companies to make full use of Sharjah’s strategic advantages and stimulate a more dynamic business climate. As the authority responsible for regulating economic activity in the emirate, SEDD is committed to fostering economic diversification, promoting sustainable development, and enhancing competitiveness. This initiative is part of broader efforts to simplify business operations, attract investment, and elevate service quality in line with top international benchmarks.

SEDD Chairman Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud emphasized that the Department is continuously working to improve the regulatory and legislative framework to support business growth and sustainability, guided by the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the direction of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Executive Council.

He stated that this new service will further strengthen Sharjah’s economic development and enhance its regional and international competitiveness.

Al Mahmoud also highlighted that the “Instant Licence” aligns with SEDD’s strategic objectives to promote economic diversification and sustainable progress. It supports investors by simplifying the process of launching businesses, reflecting the emirate’s ongoing commitment to developing its business ecosystem and solidifying its status as a global destination for investment.
