UAE President hugs kids, interacts with expats at Abu Dhabi sports event

emirates7 - UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan continues to demonstrate why he is often regarded as the 'people’s president.'

Recently shared images from a sports event in Abu Dhabi have once again highlighted the compassionate and human side of the UAE leader.

The photos, which circulated widely on social media, captured touching moments of Sheikh Mohamed warmly interacting with children—shaking hands, embracing them, and offering affectionate, fatherly gestures.

In a moving display of admiration and respect, some of the children were seen kissing Sheikh Mohamed on the forehead.

The children, dressed in sports uniforms, were taking part in Abu Dhabi Summer Sports (ADSS)—the region’s largest indoor sports festival, held annually at ADNEC Centre. The event offers a wide range of activities such as football, basketball, tennis, badminton, padel, volleyball, table tennis, and cricket, providing a fun and safe retreat from the summer heat.

During his visit, Sheikh Mohamed took time to encourage young athletes and also engaged with expatriates, posing for photos and chatting with them.

Such heartfelt interactions with the President are not uncommon. During a recent visit to the UAE by U.S. President Donald Trump, a young Emirati girl waiting in the crowd caught Sheikh Mohamed’s eye. He stopped to engage with her, gently placed his arm around her, and kissed her forehead—capturing a moment that resonated with many.

In another instance last October, Sheikh Mohamed personally thanked a group of foster mothers, recognizing their dedication and compassion in caring for children.
