Record 70 mn votes cast during first round of polling for Globe Soccer Dubai Awards

emirates7 - A remarkable 70 million votes have already been cast in the Beyond Developments Globe Soccer Dubai Awards, matching last year’s record with 10 days of voting still remaining. The awards ceremony will take place on December 27 alongside the 19th Dubai International Sports Conference at Atlantis, The Palm, supported by the Dubai Sports Council.

Among the 18 contenders for the Best Men’s Player award are four Premier League stars—Rodri, Cole Palmer, Erling Haaland, and Mohamed Salah. Haaland, last year’s winner, is aiming to retain his title at the prestigious event, where he will face competition from teammates like Rodri, as well as Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Júnior, and Jude Bellingham, and iconic players Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Haaland is also a finalist in the Best Forward category, where he competes with City’s Phil Foden, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane. The Best Midfielder category includes Rodri and Bellingham, alongside Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Bayer Leverkusen’s Granit Xhaka.

Voting, which opened two weeks ago, allows football fans worldwide to participate until December 10. The winners will be determined by a combination of fan votes and selections from the Globe Soccer Jury, which includes football legends such as Marcello Lippi, Francesco Totti, Iker Casillas, and Luis Figo. Last year, 70 million votes were cast from over 225 countries, a figure already reached halfway through the voting period this time. Fans are eager to vote for their top players of the year in both the men's and women's games.
