UAE, Iraq explore enhancing parliamentary cooperation

emirates7 - Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), held a meeting with Mohsen Al Mandlawi, the Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives of Iraq, to discuss enhancing parliamentary cooperation between the two nations during the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, Switzerland.

The discussion focused on the friendly relations between the two councils, emphasizing the importance of coordination and consultation in regional and international parliamentary forums, particularly regarding mutual interests. This aligns with the visions of both countries' leaderships and the aspirations of their peoples.

Ghobash highlighted the necessity of strengthening the historic, strategic, and brotherly ties between the UAE and Iraq, as well as their peoples. He underscored the importance of advancing cooperation across various sectors, especially in economic and investment areas, to foster mutual interests and sustainable growth.

Both parties acknowledged the significance of joint parliamentary collaboration through bilateral meetings, exchange visits, and sharing parliamentary expertise. This cooperation aims to address national interests, support Arab and Islamic issues, and promote Arab solidarity, all of which contribute to regional security and stability, particularly through participation in international parliamentary forums.
