IROS 2024 in Abu Dhabi to feature 13 forums on advanced robotics

emirates7 - Khalifa University of Science and Technology has announced that the 36th edition of the IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS 2024) in Abu Dhabi will feature 13 forums focusing on the impact of robotics across various sectors. This event, the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, will take place from 14th to 18th October 2024 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

With the theme "Robotics for Sustainable Development", IROS 2024 has already drawn thousands of researchers, academics, corporate leaders, and industry professionals from around the world. Over four days, the 13 forums will explore the rapid advancements in robotics, their relevance to policymakers, socio-economic impacts, human-robot coexistence, multiple avatars, and the potential for industrial applications.

Dr. Jorge Dias, General Chair of IROS 2024, stated that the conference will address various facets of an increasingly digital world, from sustainable development to government funding for robotics and human-robot coexistence. The forums will provide a platform for experts to share their insights and guide the future trajectory of robotics, with significant social, economic, and intellectual implications.

On 15th October, the forum "Robots for Sustainability and Sustainable Robots" will kick off with contributions from renowned experts, discussing how robotics and AI can help address global challenges through sustainable designs and technologies.

On 16th October, forums will include "Europe Regulates Artificial Intelligence: The Challenge for Robotics", "Government Forum: Funding for Robotics Research", "Robotics in Africa Forum", and "Robotics and AI in the UAE: Research Innovation and Entrepreneurship".

The forums on 17th October will include discussions on "Human-Avatars Symbiosis", "Empowering Diverse Voices in Robotics", "Sustainable Medical and Surgical Robotics", and "Moonshot R&D Program Goal 3: Envisioning a Future of Human-Robot Co-living".

The final day, 18th October, will feature forums on "Marine Robotics in the Ocean Decade Initiative for Sustainable Development", "The Future of Work: AI-Enhanced Robotics and Human Interaction Research", "Industrial Opportunities and Socio-Economic Impact of Medical Robotics", and "Robots for a Better Tomorrow: Wellbeing Through Advanced Technology".

IROS 2024 will also showcase next-generation sustainable robotics, along with exhibitions of the latest robotics technologies and products. The event will include poster sessions, keynote speeches, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, making it a major global platform for robotics innovation.
