emirates7 - The world's top tennis players are set to return to the UAE as the World Tennis League (WTL) announces an exciting lineup for its third season.
Organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Miral, the tournament will take place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi from December 19 to 22, 2024. This year's event promises to feature an impressive array of talent, including some of the best men's and women's players in the sport.
The lineup includes two Olympic gold medalists, five Grand Slam champions, six of the top 12 male players, and six of the top 10 female players. World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka, fresh from her recent US Open victory, will compete alongside top-ranked Iga Swiatek, who earned a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics and clinched her third consecutive French Open title earlier this year.
Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova and Olympic gold medalist in women’s doubles, Jasmine Paolini, will also be making their debuts at the tournament.
Other notable players in the women's draw include world No. 4 Elena Rybakina, Paula Badosa, and Caroline Garcia.
In the men's competition, world No. 5 Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev, who were part of the Eagles team that won the WTL 2023 title, will return. They will be joined by 2024 US Open runner-up Taylor Fritz, Hubert Hurkacz, and Casper Ruud.
