emirates7 - The UAE Judo Federation has announced that the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Judo tournament will be held from 11th to 13th October at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi. Organized with the oversight of the International Judo Federation (IJF) and support from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the event boasts a total prize pool of US$154,000 and will draw top-ranked international judokas.
Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Darei, IJF Ambassador for Friendship and Peace and President of the UAE Judo Federation, explained that athletes will compete in seven weight divisions for both men and women. A total of 56 medals will be awarded: 14 gold, 14 silver, and 28 bronze for third and fourth place finishers across all categories.
The competition draw will be held on 10th October at the Grand Millennium Hotel in Abu Dhabi via videoconference, with participation from representatives of both the IJF and the UAE Judo Federation. Registration for the tournament remains open on the IJF website until the draw date.
