emirates7 - The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has announced an extension for submissions to the 13th Sikka Art and Design Festival, which is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture.
The new deadline for submissions is 31st October 2024, allowing Emirati and UAE & GCC-based artists and creatives—including retailers, culinary artists, performers, and workshop facilitators—more time to present their diverse works at the festival.
The festival welcomes a variety of creative expressions such as visual arts, paintings, sculptures, photography, design, murals, multimedia, and culinary arts. It also includes interactive workshops, musical and cinematic performances, discussions, and panel talks.
Set to take place from 31st January to 9th February 2025 in the Al Shindagha Historic Neighbourhood, participants must showcase works that reflect their unique ideas and artistic styles while highlighting the vibrancy of the local art scene. Artworks should be created using environmentally friendly materials, must be original, recently produced, and not previously exhibited elsewhere.
The Sikka Art and Design Festival, part of the Dubai Art Season, aims to a platform that celebrates various art forms and fosters both emerging and established talent. This initiative aligns with Dubai's cultural vision of becoming a global cultural hub, a center for creativity, and a thriving space for talent.
