M.O.D UAE dominates Day 1 of Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Sharjah

emirates7 - M.O.D UAE took the lead on the opening day of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship, Round 3 No-Gi, held from 27th to 29th September at Al Bait Metwahid, Sharjah.

Friday’s competition featured impressive performances from elite athletes in the Adults and Masters divisions, with M.O.D UAE athletes securing the top spot. Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club followed in second place, while Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club claimed third.

The championship continues over the weekend, with U12 and U14 athletes competing on Day 2, and the U16 and Youth categories on Day 3. This round is part of a five-event series held across the UAE throughout the season, attracting top talent from the region.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, and other notable figures including Sheikh Tariq bin Faisal Al Qasimi, Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Consultative Council, and Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, attended the event.

Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi expressed his gratitude to the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation for organizing the championship, emphasizing its importance in promoting sports, particularly jiu-jitsu. He praised the UAE’s leadership for investing in youth, who are key to securing a prosperous future, and noted that the success of the UAE today is the result of previous investments in sports, education, and youth development.

Yousef Abdullah Al Batran highlighted the championship as a vital platform for promoting jiu-jitsu and fostering excellence across different athlete categories. He commended the leadership's support for advancing sports, especially jiu-jitsu, which instills values like determination and persistence. Al Batran also remarked on the strong audience turnout, which added excitement and motivated the athletes.

Gold medalist Haitham Hanawi from M.O.D UAE, who won in the Men’s Adults/Masters Brown/Black -56kg category, reflected on the challenge of competing in the No-Gi format. He credited his success to hard training and team support, emphasizing how the tournament was a valuable test of his skills.

Rasul Isaev from Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Jiu-Jitsu Club, who won gold in the Men’s Adults Blue/Purple -77kg category, echoed similar sentiments. He noted the competition’s difficulty and the importance of mental and physical preparation in overcoming skilled opponents, adding that the tournament offers a chance to develop new strategies and improve as an athlete.
