emirates7 - National team cyclist Mohammad Al Mutaiwei claimed a silver medal in the individual pursuit race at the 2024 Track Asia Cup, which kicked off today in Thailand and will run until next Friday.
The UAE team is competing with seven cyclists across the men’s, women’s, and youth categories.
Al Mutaiwei set a new UAE record by completing the 4 km race in 4:29.7 minutes, with an average speed of 53 km per hour. He finished just behind South Korea's Park Sang-hong, who posted a time of 4:25.9 minutes, while Kazakhstan’s Maxim Konkin took third place.
This is Al Mutaiwei's third medal at the Asian level, having previously won silver in the individual pursuit at the Asian Championships in India and another silver at the Asian Road Championships in Kazakhstan two months ago. He is currently ranked seventh in the world in the individual pursuit category.
