emirates7 - The UAE hosted the first session of the UAE-Estonia Business Council (UEBC) on the sidelines of the Estonia Business Forum and the Estonian National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai.
The session organized by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) was attended by Abdulnasser Alshaali, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs at MoFAIC; Humaid Ben Salem, Secretary-General of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry; Salem Alshamsi, the Emirati Co-chair of the UEBC; Lauri Lugna, Chairman of Enterprise Estonia; Taavi Einaste, the Estonian Deputy Co-chair of the UEBC; and members of the UEBC.
In delivering his opening remarks, Abdulnasser Alshaali praised the efforts of both sides in establishing and activating the Council within a short period of time, which will contribute to strengthening cooperation between the business sectors in both countries. He expressed his confidence that the council would institutionalize the distinguished and constructive bilateral cooperation between the UAE and Estonia and would encourage the private sector to opportunities that will deepen cooperation and achieve the desired growth.
In turn, Al Shamsi stressed the important role that the council will play as a platform for strengthening economic relations and expanding existing partnerships between the UAE and Estonia.
The first session included presentations from both sides on important contributions expected from the concerned institutions. It also witnessed the signing of the charter of the UEBC by Salem Al Shamsi on the UAE side and Taavi Einaste on the Estonian side in the presence of Dr. Alar Karis, President of the Republic of Estonia.
