China's non-manufacturing sector continues to expand in February

emirates7 - China's non-manufacturing sector continued to grow in February, showing a consistent recovery in economic activity, according to official data released on Saturday.

The non-manufacturing business activity index reached 50.4% in February, a 0.2% increase from January, as reported by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and covered by China Central Television (CCTV). A reading above 50 signals growth, while below 50 indicates contraction.

In terms of specific industries, sectors like air transport, postal services, telecommunications, radio and television, satellite transmission, capital market services, and financial services all showed strong growth, with their business activity indexes exceeding 55%. These industries experienced rapid increases in overall business volume.

The construction sector also saw growth, with its business activity index rising to 52.7% in February, up 3.4% from the previous month. This growth followed the Spring Festival holiday season, which ended in early February. Warmer weather, the start of investment projects, and the resumption of business operations contributed to the sector's recovery.

He Hui, Deputy Head of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, noted that the end of the Spring Festival holiday helped stimulate investment demand, and construction companies accelerated their work, leading to a significant boost in construction activities, particularly in infrastructure investment.

The Spring Festival holiday, which ran from January 28 to February 4, is the most important holiday in China and a time for family reunions.
