Abu Dhabi Customs records 72% pre-arrival customs clearance rate in 2024

emirates7 - The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs has reported a significant rise in pre-arrival customs clearance transactions, which accounted for 72% of all customs procedures in 2024. This represents a 53% increase compared to 2023, when the rate stood at 47% across Abu Dhabi’s customs centres.

For outbound shipments, pre-arrival clearance constituted 85% of total registered exit declarations, a notable rise from 67% in the previous year. Similarly, inbound shipments processed through pre-arrival clearance made up 60% of total entry declarations, a substantial increase from 31% in 2023.

The surge in pre-arrival clearance transactions in 2024 is attributed to Abu Dhabi Customs' ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency. This includes the continuous development of digital customs procedures, optimization of integrated technical systems, and investment in cutting-edge technological infrastructure, including artificial intelligence. Additionally, the introduction of tailored facilities for freight clearance and shipping companies, improved electronic integration with regulatory and service entities, and the establishment of service-level agreements with relevant organizations have collectively streamlined transaction processing, reduced clearance times, and improved overall efficiency for both employees and customers.

Pre-arrival customs clearance is available through smart platforms such as the Abu Dhabi Government Services Platform (*TAMM*) and the Advanced Trade and Logistics Platform (*ATLP*). This service enables importers, exporters, and their representatives to complete customs procedures in advance of goods arriving at customs centres. The process involves submitting customs declarations, paying duties, meeting regulatory requirements where necessary, and finalizing procedures before shipment arrival, ensuring a more seamless and efficient customs experience.
