Dubai delegation explores Shenzhen's investment, innovation experience

emirates7 - A delegation of Dubai leaders representing 14 government entities is continuing its strategic visit to Shenzhen, an initiative organized by The Executive Office in collaboration with Dubai Chambers.

The visit, set to conclude tomorrow, aims to study best practices in advanced infrastructure and learn from globally leading Chinese enterprises.

As part of the agenda, the delegation conducted field visits to institutions specializing in investment, innovation, technology, and urban planning. During these visits, officials engaged with key stakeholders, examined groundbreaking achievements, and explored opportunities for collaboration in artificial intelligence, advanced technologies, institutional innovation, sustainability, smart city development, and emerging industries. These efforts align with Dubai’s ambition to solidify its status as a global hub for talent, business, and technological progress.

Another key objective of the visit is to establish long-term strategic partnerships with leading institutions in Shenzhen, strengthening bilateral ties between Dubai and China while facilitating knowledge exchange and economic cooperation. Additionally, the delegation is working to attract multinational corporations, high-growth startups, and unicorn companies from China to Dubai, fostering greater trade and investment opportunities.

Shenzhen is widely recognized as a global leader in innovation and advanced technology, boasting a strategic location and world-class infrastructure that has positioned it as a key hub for major enterprises. Dubai’s leadership delegation aims to leverage Shenzhen’s expertise to enhance economic and technological collaboration between the two cities.

During the visit, the delegation toured the Shenzhen Investment Promotion Agency, which plays a crucial role in facilitating local and foreign investments through market insights, regulatory streamlining, and economic incentives. They explored Shenzhen’s strategies for attracting startups and high-tech firms while discussing potential investment opportunities between the two cities.

The delegation also visited Tencent, a leading global company in internet and technology solutions. Founded in 1998, Tencent has a notable presence in Gulf markets, particularly in the gaming industry. The delegation examined the company’s advancements in artificial intelligence, smart city technologies, and digital transformation, as well as China’s integrated service delivery model via the WeChat super app.

At the Shenzhen Institute of Urban Planning and Design, a state-owned consultancy established in 1990, the delegation gained insights into sustainable urban planning. The institute has contributed to over 7,000 projects across 400 cities, specializing in policy development, urban studies, transport, and infrastructure. The delegation also explored Shenzhen’s innovative Sponge City model, which focuses on sustainable urban design to mitigate flooding.

The visit also included a tour of the Phoenix Wings Smart Logistics Centre, which integrates artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics into logistics operations. Delegates examined Shenzhen’s experience in developing a comprehensive low-altitude aviation management ecosystem to enhance logistics efficiency and discussed the potential adaptation of these technologies for Dubai.

Additionally, the delegation visited the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Centre, one of the world’s largest exhibition venues, covering 1.6 million square meters, including 500,000 square meters of exhibition space. Strategically located near Shenzhen International Airport, the center is a premier destination for global trade, technology, and business events. The delegation reviewed its state-of-the-art facilities and discussed potential collaborations in hosting international events.

The Dubai delegation includes representatives from The Executive Office, Dubai Chambers, Dubai Future Foundation, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Land Department, Dubai Economic Security Centre, Digital Dubai, Dubai Economic Development Corporation, World Governments Summit Organisation, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Department of Finance, Dubai Holding, and TECOM Group.
